Asakusa Jinja : Asakusa, Taito Ward, Tokyo – アサクサジンジャ (東京都台東区浅草 : 浅草神社) –
Asakusa Shrine is to the right of Sensoji Temple’s main hall (if you’re looking from Kaminarimon). I initially planned to include it in my Sensoji post, but since temples and shrines represent different religions, I decided to feature them separately.(;^ω^)

The key difference lies in their religious affiliation: Sensoji Temple is Buddhist, venerating Kannon, the Goddess of Mercy, as its principal image; Asakusa Shrine, on the other hand, is Shinto.
Asakusa Shrine is Shinto and enshrines three gods: fishermen’s brothers and intellectuals.
Sensoji Temple’s Kaminarimon Gate is famous, but Asakusa Shrine is located to the east of Sensoji Temple and holds a large festival called the Sanja Matsuri.(In 2025, the event will be held for three days from Friday, May 16th to Sunday, May 18th, on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the third week of May every year.)

Other: A deep relationship with Sensoji Temple since the Heian period Simply put, Sensoji Temple is a Buddhist temple and Asakusa Shrine is a Shinto shrine, and it seems that they each enshrine different things.

A famous Japanese tourist spot is the Kaminarimon Gate – Sensoji Temple, but there is also Asakusa Shrine next to it, and it is said that various prayers are offered at Asakusa Shrine, from first shrine visits and warding off evil spirits to Shichigosan, so it is also a good idea to visit.
Thank you for watching.
