I was curious about the icicles at Ashigakubo and wanted to see them myself, so I did some research and found out I could get there directly from the Ashigakubo Fruit Park Roadside Station, so I went to check it out.
Ashigakubo Fruit Park is the first roadside station on National Route 299, which is the entrance to Chichibu County in Saitama Prefecture. It faces National Route 299 and is the perfect starting point for your trip to Chichibu.

Seibu Railway, get off at Ashigakubo Station on the Seibu Chichibu Line Parking:

I went there because I heard there are many ways to enjoy it, such as taking a break during a long-distance journey, taking the first step at the beginning of a trip, or even buying souvenirs on the way home.
The location, surrounded by rural woodland with clear streams, allows you to spend a luxurious time soothing your soul. In the summer, you will want to go in to soothe your tired feet and return to your childhood. The clear water of Chichibu was very beautiful.

We have a wide selection of fresh, reasonably priced vegetables and fruits, all grown with care by local farmers.
I didn’t know this, but it’s directly connected to the Seibu Chichibu Line station, so it’s easily accessible by train. It’s loved by many people as a hybrid roadside station that you can drop in to easily. If there are lodging facilities nearby, I’d like to go there by train too.
There are seasonal tourist spots and activities such as icicles , autumn leaves, and splashing around in the water. There are also restaurants nearby, including Ashigakubo Shokudo and Mizube no Udon & Soba at the roadside station, so you can enjoy the flavors of Chichibu.

If you are traveling by car, please note that the road surface on National Route 299 may freeze over in the cold winter mornings and evenings, so we recommend using winter tires during the winter.

This time I went in late February 2025, and it’s a roadside station I’d like to visit again to see the fresh greenery in spring, the coolness in summer, and the autumn leaves.
It’s a bit of a challenge to go there for a day trip, but I think it’s a great base for a roadside station to take a break on your way to your accommodation.
